Dan and I are moving on to France, but I wanted to share a bit from what I'm reading on the train.

My train reading has been awesome lately, by the way. Jen bought me a book on understanding the nuances and origin of the Italian Language - a perfect partner to this leg of the trip.

Anyway, there is a whole chapter on Italian Romance. You can tell it is a HUGE priority to them because there are a million words to describe dating. Here are a few of my favorites:

Civettino - precocious boy flattering a pretty woman
Civettone - A borish lout doing the same thing
Colombeggiare - to kiss one another like doves
Civettina - an innocent flirt
Civettuola - a slut
Giovanotto di prima barba - someone who flirts when he's a little boy/pre-beard
Damerino - an effeminate guy
Zerbino - a doormat in love
Zerbinetto - an player
Zerbinotto - an older guy trying to be a player who shouldn't
Cicisbeo - a guy dating a married woman
Sporcacioni - a dirty old man

And then just for fun, apparently a popular nickname for Americans is Culoni = big butts
