Why I write
A very smart friend told me . . .
That your first love should never be your career. The theory is that any job - - no matter how great - - comes with a fairly large amount of bullshit. So why would you taint the things you love by associating them with work?
That makes a lot of sense, but in the San Francisco Bay Area, your job is your life.
You spend 2 or more hours getting ready and commuting, an hour at lunch with your co-workers, 8 hours (or more) working . . . to be honest, if your passion isn't your career, you're either not very passionate about it, or you're doomed to a life where passion is - - at best - - a weekend respite that merely keeps you going through the long week.
This website is a labor of love for me. A "passion project." And one that I hope can ultimately pay my bills, because since I was a little girl I knew I wanted to tell stories about the things I love and the world around me.
This is my first stab at living the dream. Thanks for checking it out.
