My Souvenir from Prague

As you know, I had dental work done in Prague this morning.

I now have a little piece of the Czech Republic in my mouth.

I was so worried when I woke up this morning with a cracked filling, hoping that the night before had been a dream. It wasn't a dream, obviously, but this whole mess ended up being a lot easier to fix than I originally guessed.

My hostel made an appointment for me at a local dentist's office, I went, it turned out he was from Seattle (totally random) and it took less than an hour for me to be fixed up, and back on my way. And for WAY less than I would have paid in the States. A comparison: I received a bill for $830 for a simple blood test in the States right before I left, while in Europe, for less than $200, I was able to get a whole new filling, no questions asked.

Not only were my assumptions about the quality of dental care in Eastern Europe way off base, but in a bigger picture sort of way I realized that I need to have more faith that things will work out in the end. I had the biggest smile on my face when I left the dentist's office today, which probably looked ridiculous cause half my face was frozen, but I was just so relieved.

The ups and downs of this trip have just been incredible. It's only been 2.5 weeks but a month's worth has already happened. I've met people of every nationality and with every accent - I've been lost, been rained out, been hailed on, and now I have experienced European health care.

I feel like, whenever I have doubts going forward, I just need to bite down on my non broken teeth and remember that things work out.
