Is so much more enjoyable.
When people talk about how much they love Rome, I imagine it's becausethey spent most of their time strolling around Il Campo Di Fiore or
Piazza Navona at night, sipping wine, looking at statues, and getting
out of the loud crazy mess that is the rest of the city. Dan and I found a bar last night where we met a 60 year old Irishman.
He insisted on buying us 3 rounds of beer and playing us music from
his ipod (U2, Dave Matthews, and Hall and Oats songs from recorded
1980's concerts) and ultimately pointed us in the right direction for
an awesome and cheap local dinner spot that served dinner at 11pm. After all that, we didn't mind so much that the subway was closed and
it was a 30 minute hike back across town. At 1am, Rome was warm, well
lit, and empty - it Rome could always be that way I would say it was
pretty much perfect.
