As everyone knows, Belgium is all about beer. The country houses 6 of
the world's 7 Trappist Monasteries where Monks have been refining
their brews since the middle ages, and to have a Trappist Label on
your beer is a huge honor. It's very difficult to get this sort of beer in the States, so you
need to drink as much as you can while you're somewhere like Belgium.
Which I did. I believe there is a magical quality in this sort of beer, because as
I approached my 5th drink, I suddenly remembered two things in French
that proved to be invaluable in helping me complete my journey. One is the phrase, "Ou Est?" (where is) - the other is the phrase
"Quand est" (when is . . . as in "When is the train?") Thanks to beer, I was able to drunkenly find the Central Station again
. . . albeit after many wrong turns, and I got to the station on time.
