An afternoon on the beach in Nice is a people-watcher's dream. (And when you're alone, you tend to do a lot of people watching.)

There are of course the usual families and pretty girls and teenagers, but today on the beach there were some more interesting characters as well. A few of my favorites.

- The skinny, dark-haired lesbian couple in matching black bikinis. One with a buzz cut and dark shades, the other with long hair and aviators. Both chain smoking.

- The super tan, oddly fit old man wearing very small swim shorts and running shoes while he tanned.

- The group of teenage boys listening to French rap music (much to the annoyance of an American couple in front of me.)

- An assortment of plump, middle-aged, pretty, and seemingly well-off topless women sitting up while their husbands slept next to them on the beach.

- The skinny exhibitionist with the Double D's running into the waves while her friend looked on.

- The pervy old old guy who just went ahead and changed underware in front of us all.
