I'm very glad I gave Amsterdam a little time to settle, I like it much
more today than I did yesterday.
you get to the outer edges of the city you are surrounded by canals,
bikers, gelato, wine bars, boats, and parks. Oh - and pretty little
coffee shops with happy people inside. Not the dank smoky ones by my
hostel, with people too stoned to even have a conversation, but the
ones I always imagined - with Europeans telling funny stories and
giggling over foamy coffee drinks. Its exactly what I had been looking
for. The tram system is still too confusing for me at the moment, so I
logged about 10-15 miles today on foot. It wasn't so bad, it makes up
for the beer, and also, I made it all the way to the bottom of the
city which means I saw Museumplein, Anne Frank's House, and the giant
Heinekin museum. As much of a pain as it is to be on foot, that still
seems better than the bus . . . I might be in Europe but I haven't
lost my hatred for the bus. As I have told many of you, you can't spell "abuse" without "bus."
