Holy crap: It is hot in Buenos Aires

One of the things I read about Buenos Aires was "Don't stay anywhere in the summer that doesn't have AC." So when I booked Yira Yira guesthouse (which is absolutely delightful in every other sense) I made sure it had air conditioning.

Unfortunately, it is a guest-house, so air conditioning is a little at the whim of the owner--who likes to turn it on from 4pm-10pm, and then turns it off, presumably to save money.

The result: Dan and I return from a HOT 2am stroll across the city, and get back to a house that is 75-80 degrees on the inside--at BEST.

Buenos Aires Summer Heat Sucks

Growing up in Sacramento, I am used to hot weather (although, my time on the coast has significantly diminished my ability to cope with oven-like heat) but the heat here is absolutely stifling. It's like going to Cancun in the middle of the summer, except people are dressed in regular clothes, doing regular things (i.e. not spending the entire day in the pool.)

This is a weird comparison, but I had more than a few moments today where I felt like I was part of some old Southern movie (i.e. Gone With the Wind) because all I wanted to do is sit in the dark and fan myself.

Seriously folks, it's hot. Not sure we're sleeping tonight.....
